VS_1680: "Drive BUSY!"

My 1680 (V-Xpanded) has begun to give me the "Drive BUSY!" message more and more lately during recording, even when I am recording only 3 or 4 tracks. Worse, it somehow seems to know when a good take is happening, and always freezes up then! I have plenty of room on the 20gig hard drive, and it happens on all of the partitions, regardless of free space.

Any tips?

What Wish said. Have you optomized your songs? Remember that when you record over a track, the computer in the Roland saves every damn take, and every mixer scene, routing scheme, etc., until it runs out of hard drive space. Optomizing empties the hard drive of everything except the last version of the song, and recovers memory. If you have optomized every song, and the computer gives you the same message, back up the songs to CDR, zip drive, or whatever, and erase some of them.-Richie
