vs 890

I was trying to record drum loops from my lap top (fruity loops) using edurol digital converter to my vs890 with fibre optic . as far as i know i had everything hook up the right way including setting up the audio settings on fl studio program but no matter what i tried i could not get a signal.
i can just use the headphone jack on the computer and plug it in to the mixer but that would be analog signal. i want digital.
does anyone have any experience with what i am talking about any info would be apreciated.
by the way this is my first time on any forum.

The first thing you should see is the Roland asking you if you want to lock to an external clock, and you need to say yes. If it doesn't ask, you are not getting any signal from your computer. Make sure you have started a song with the same bit depth as you are sending with the Edirol.
