VS-880 compatibility

I have one of the original VS-880's along with a zip drive. I beleive it is version 1.07. A friend of mine is thinking of purchasing a VS-880EX or even an 840. Does anyone know if we will have any compatibility issues. I beleive there will be if he gets the 840. Any help in this matter would greatly be appreciated.

I don't know much about the 840,but I have an 880EX and you'll have a lot easier time of it with 2 880's 'cause if you get the CD burner upgrade you'll be able to exchange songs in data format on CDRW's and should you ever want to it wouldn't be hard to sync 'em both together to record more tracks,plus you'll have better and more FX and the possibility to record in uncompressed MAS mode.
