Any input on a "memory full" error on the VS 840?

Seems this unit constantly fills up the memory too quickly.

Basic solo-multitrack recording...Track, 1 thru 8 seperately...with re-takes here and there. minimal effects.
I looked at the new Fostex unit until I read a post about "3 minutes of record time if you use all 8 tracks for playback!"
Is this the same issue with the VS-840.
Don't want to return to cassettes and MiniDisks multitrackers are extinct...but at least you could record a few tunes.

also,I've seen posts about software upgrades, hows this done and would it help?

COOLCAT,

Have you got the Ex? Also are you using 100Mb disc's or 250Mb.. There is a way that you can actually use a laptop HDD in the Ex versions... gives you a tonne of recording time... Check out the 840 forum on VS Planet. There is a detailed description there on how to install the HDD.

Hope this helps,

Porter

Thanks!
250 discs...I'm not sure on the EX believe it or not.
I got it at a Guitar Center close out, it was a demo with all the options and a large metal Roland display for what its worth.

I'm headiong over to V-planet for a minute as you suggested.

I thought the 250 upgrade included an EX upgrade?

Never did it though. It's pretty damn limited. I use it for my field recorder for choir concerts anymore. Chokes on just abnout anything else.

What the hell is the point of having 8 tracks if it can't play more than 4?

dafduc,

If you install the HDD you can play back 8 tracks in MT1 mode!!
