Has anybody ever recorded a rock type band on the VS 840? If so, How good is the sound quality? Just curious because im recording pretty soon and just wondering what I sould excpect. Its a 5 piece , 2 guitars , bass, 5 peice drums, 1 maybe 2 vocals.
I have the Vs 840 , mackie 1604 mixer, 1 ART pre-amp and CAD 300 vocal mic and a bunch of SM57 and senheiser drum mics, and the "duckhead" kick drum mic. IM just alittle nervous about how it might turn out.
Thanks

The quality of the 840 is digital & its great. I have been satisfied with recording at MT2.

You are limited to recording only 4 tracks simultaneously so your question depends on how you intend to do this. Are you going to record the band live by placing mics in the room, or are you recording the individual members 1 or 2 or 3 at a time...?

This can be very effective when you lay down the rhythm section first and add parts or layers afterwards.

Remember, you've got 64 tracks to play with and the famous undo & redo button for editing. Also, recording lots of tracks can consume alot of the zip disk. You may need to optimize if you run out of space.

Good luck...

Just as tulago says the quality is just great, if your interested I have some stuff i've recorded on my website I have used the one track at a time method at mt2

anyway good luck on the recording and dont worry it's very difficult to get a bad recording off the 840
