VS 1880 Backup to CD-RW System Freeze

I recorded drums for three separate songs this afternoon. I am trying to backup to a CD-RW, and one of the songs is stuck at the "56%" mark during the "verify" segment of the backup. I can not restart the PC; none of the functions are working.

Should I have switched the "Verify" function to the "off" before I tried to backup the songs? And now that the system is frozen, am I at risk of losing all the data I recorded today if I just shut the power off?

What do I do now?

I already heard some say that the verify is slow and error prone... Most seem to work without and do a loading back... IMHO, you SHOULD not loose data when switching off, if you have saved before , but one never knows. I think you might try to switch off the CD burner (why do you write about your PC ???) and after a while there should be an error from which you can recover, but I'm not perfectly sure...

Thank you. I did save the work before I tried to back it up(I try to do that habitually). I ended up swiching the 1880 off(I was referring to the 1880 when I said "PC"). I was then able to back everything up without using the "Verify" function switched to the "Off" position. It was a little nerve wracking turning it off; 5 hours worth of work, and I thought it was going to be lost!!
