Hi all,

I can use some advice, let me first explain the situation:

I'm going to record a demo for my band. I would like to do the mixing and recording as much as I can on my PC, because I am very familiar with my CEP and my wave plugins. But I can only record 2 tracks at a time, so I had to find another solution for the drums.

I have a friend with a Vs1680 and I can borrow that one for the ddrumes.

My Idea was: I record pilot tracks of guit/bass/vocals on my PC and I put those tracks on the VS machine. Then I record the drums on the VS, and export those drum tracks on my pc where I synchronize them with my pilot tracks, erase the pilot tracks and start recording the rest.

Any ideas how I can transport those files from my PC to the VS and back? I believe I can't do it digitally, so if I transfer the files analog, is it going to give many problems? Or do you guys have any other ideas?

thx for listening
Brett

You could get a soundcard with spdif and make a sync’d digital copy. The computer is the master, and the Roland is the slave, perfectly sync’d through the MIDI connections. My soundcard has an optical spdif which lessens chance of interference. Keep in mind, it is a copy, but a digital copy, so you by-pass the converters. You can copy 2 tracks at a time, in real time, but all tracks copied will be in sync. I can’t tell the difference between the original and the copy when I do it.
