Don't stare at the eye.
I have a hard time dialing in her vox. (It's no doubt revealing a weakness in my monitoring setup.) When I have it sounding right in the studio, the vox are too hot when I check it on a CD in my car. So I'm curious how this mix holds up around the planet.

(Any comments--vox or otherwise--are appreciated).

Here's the tune...

Thanks for your time.

I'm listening on OK head phones & the vox seem just a little hot. Not much but a little more than is comfy for my ears.
"...more than chocolate or wealth..." hmm, amusing!

Cool...thanks for the listen Ray!

sounds like the vox could use a bit of automation. The first verse sounds quieter than the rest. I think just a wee bit more reverb would help it gell in the mix as well.

I agree with Stepping, 1st verse is quieter than the others. I suggest finding middle ground between the two; should be about right. Maybe consider bringing the guitar lead up a bit, too.

peace,

Yeah... i was listening the first part (is the chorus right??) and i thought: vox too hot? where? and then came the verse and ooooooh, there is. I'll stay with the first part levels.

+1 for automation.

When the vocals first came in, like somebody else already said, I thought it sounded just right. But in the following sections, I agree the level could come down a bit.

By the way, I'm listening on an older stereo receiver with very decent desktop speakers.

Another way to look at this is, that to my ears the tone of the voice seems different than the rest of the recording. Maybe the way to pull it back in the mix is to take a little of the edge off and perhaps add a little room reverb similar to the backing track. Don't know how much compression is being used already but it seems that the voice could be squashed a little more. Just my $.02

Well done tune! Minor adjustment on the vocals and lead as previously mentioned. The keyboards are super, and she's got an excellent voice.

Great song, Bob!
Yeah I think the voice is simply too "in your face". It needs to have the same roominess of all the other instruments. Also I think the kick sounds a bit too clicky, which could be a bit too much for this style of music. Otherwise the mix sounds great. Real nice snare sound. You're almost there...;)
