Hi! Just need some basic advice on setting volume for recording guitar. I use a U.S. Strat and seem to be unable to get reasonable volume recorded without distortion. Any ideas.

Need more info... what is your signal chain - how are you recording your guitar... what are you recording onto........

Without knowing more detail, there's no way to answer your question!

I get a very fuzzy sound when I use any of the patches with any distortion or overdrive. Maybe this would disappear if I ran it through my hi fi. It happens when I listen through headphones connected to the computer speakers as well. Perhaps a DI box would help to. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as this problem is stifling the flow of my creative juices like you wouldnt believe.
Mick...

You definitely need to use a DI box between the guitar and the inputs on the BR8. Alternately, you could look into using some sort of modelling device such as a POD or J-Station to provide a line-level signal to your BR8 and at the same time giving you a better impression of a "guitar thru speaker" sound....

At the very least, a DI will get your guitar signal into the right ballpark for connection to your unit!
