Hi! I have a Tascam DP-01 and I want to import wave files into it from my computer via USB. Now the question is my Tascam is american (normal american voltage) but I live in Germany now and my computer is european. Can I still do this or will the differences in voltage somehow mess it up? I don't even know if voltage is an issue here but I have to ask.

I did hook my Fostex cassette 4-track up to this computer before with the analog outputs and I never had any problems but I don't know if USB is different since I will be exporting files from the computer as opposed to importing sound. Know what I mean? :)

USB is an international standard, so a USB device bought in the US will work fine in eurpoe.
However- make sure that you get a suitable power adaptor from your mains supply.
In the manual it states that the external AC PSU can take 100-240VAC, so al ong as you can find a suitable adaptor for your PSU to fit your wallsockets, you should be fine

Well, since all my equipment is american (except for my computer) I use a step-down voltage converter which converts the 220/240V into 110/120V. I've also been using this for my Tascam. Are you saying then that it has a built in voltage converter and all I would need is the right plug add on? Or would it also work with my voltage converter? (I'd probably rather use this just to be safe).

The easiest way to check the tolerances is to look at the manual.
Most PSUs these days use a high-speed switching PSU, as opposed to the old school step-down transformer PSU.
Switching PSUs auto-sense the incoming voltage, and adjust to fit that level. Easiest way it to look at the PSU/power input on your unit- most of the time it will have the input tolerance on it.

The manual for the DP-01 shows that the stock PSU's iunput tolerance is 100-240V, so you should be fine.
