That Norwegian Bastard
Hi I`m buying the presonus firepod from the U.S.A, and I live in norway, we have a different voltage over here 220 volt, instead of the US 110 volt, I was wandering if any of you guys knew of a good coverter for the outlet.

I'll bet Presonus sells a European power supply for that thing. I'd suggest you contact them and see if you can order a power supply for it.

As far as I know from reading their website - I too was contemplating purchasing mine from over there due to the favorable Dollar/Euro situation - they do not condone the sale of firepods from The States to Europe, but refer you to an European distributor; so I doubt they would be willing to sell/advise you on a converter.
Of course, asking never hurts. If you come up with a solution, I'd like to hear it.

For what it is worth, I plan on purchasing mine from www.thomann.de
who sell it for 675,- Euro and have reasonable shipping rates (8,- Euro to Denmark). Perhaps resale value will be better without a converter?

Best regards - og lykke til
Kim

hi guys,
my entire rack is filled with us equipment ! well...allmost
i got a rackrider with 8 110v outs, all used,
and two other small converters,

in belgium you can find tiny little converters for about €10 !
but i prefer to use a rackrider instead...cause i got so "many" machines

i remember i did have humming and buzzing before i had the rackrider..
i'm a total newbie when we're talking about electronics, but i think its best to plug all US equipment to one power supply instead of several...

anywayz, thats not that important, one thing i want to warn you for:

IMPORT TAXES , man !!! they can ruin you, i once paid €250 import for my akg c414 !!! bastards... i heard someone say its illegal, but when i buy something from a US guy i ask them to write on the package that the value is only $25 , then you don't pay those taxes, but you got to keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't get lost in the mail... i've had good expieriences with USPS, bad with fedex, and TERRIBLE with the belgian mail!!

building a little studio can be nerrve racking, or how u say it

thanks for the replies guys, really apreciate it.

but there must be some good voltage coverters lying around?

any links?

I have no idea about the quality of the products they sell,
but http://www.furuseth.as/products.htm
Carry voltage converters, are located in Oslo and were mentioned
on the website of the USA Emabassy in Norway (under using electrical equipment bought in The States-listing), though I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not :)

Best regards
Kim

Oh - on a sidenote, you could also try to find a 230V european power supply that supplies the voltage needed by the firepod - AFAICT from looking at the rather grainy picture of the pod back panel on their website, it requires 12-24v, 20 W - but another user on this BBS that actually owns one could probably tell you for certain. This however would almost certainly void warranty I would think, and is probably not that good a solution, just thought I'd mention it in any case.

Best regards

i once replaced the wallwart of my lexicon alex with a european wallwart with the same voltage/ampere , but the alex freaked out, guess because of the 50 herts we got here...
so i think its safer to use the powersupply of the unit itsself, and plug it in a (cheap) transfo, my brother plays on a GT-6 connected to thé cheapest and ugliest transfo i've ever seen, it gets hot as hell,
but doesn't give any problems, noises or whatever....just heat

Thanks guys, I have sent an email the the store you gave the link for kim, thanks.

hopefully it will be a breeze.

I bought mine here in a dutch webshop for 619 euros. I don't know about shipping abroad. The website is Verhagen Muziek
Pro Audio Shop -> Audiokaarten / Interface -> Presonus

or you should call him at +31 13 5445210

good luck

Thank you very much for that info, Cas.
That is indeed quite a bit cheaper - I'll
probably try to order from them when I
get my finances sorted out, as they do
seem to ship to most of Europe by TPG?.

Best regards
Kim

I got a really nice voltage converter at www.voltageconvertors.com.
500 watts plus I also purchased a pad with 6 inputs, so now i can get real busy buying american goods.

thanks for the help guys.

As far as I can see they ship to all countries in Europe by TPG. But you should give them a call, because I dont know about shipping costs.
