Hey guyz, I've been trying to find a vocoder (voice changer) that has decent adjustability. Maybe something like Kraftwerk used. I looked on line and all I seem to come up with are whimpy computer programs that allow you to "robotize" your voce. I want HARDWARE that can alter, distort, change, pitch shift, effect etc.

Does anyone have any ideas of where I can find one?

Thanx for the time.

PS. also if anyone knows of software that works well I'm not opposed

There's a Boss 'Voice Changer' on the market for around $250 that does very convincing pitch changes and has a good (on a scale of fair to excellent) robotize function.

The best software vocoder I've used and the one that can come closest to the Kraftwerk sound is the one included with Reason.

The one that I'm pretty sure Kraftwerk used is a Korg unit that is now all but impossible to find and goes for crazy ching on ebay...

Thanx 4 the replies guyz, much appreciated. I think I'm going to check out that BOSS unit.

sondz kewl...haha, I just down loaded a trial of AV Voice Changer 3.0, sems to work okay. Youcan hear your origianl voice+effects when recording, then when the file is saved you only hear the effects. Pretty neat, although I have no idea what file types I can convert the (*.nvc) into.

Unfortunately I have to give shout-out to Behringer's DSP Pro1000 efx box.
The unit's vocoder patch (1 of ONLY 3 decent patches the unit has out of 32)is adjustable in both pitch and tone and it's effect parameters can be fine-tuned. Using in conjunction with a keyboard via midi yields some killer sounds!.

The microKORG is very cool. My band just bought one. We love it. It comes with a mic but also has an input jack so you can use any dynamic.

Don't forget the Korg that MadAudio mention above. It is good too. Korg MS2000 is also a fine too.

However any high end Keyboard now a day has build vocoder.

Vokator

Hey bro the best one I have come across is Native instruments Vokator.

I had a ms2000r and it was nothing compared to this.

It is a software based Vacooder and once you use it forget the rest.

You need a midi cable for the pc and a kbd and your off.

Regards Raver

Thanx Raver, I'll check it out. Oh yeah, and.......PLUR!

HAHA :p
