Alright....once again...plz reply to my situation...

Heres what i got:

Behringer Eurotrack UB802 Mixer
Crappy Soundcard that came with the computer

Thats pretty much all i have now...im aiming towards getting a Studio Projects B3...Is it even worth buying with the stuff I have. Now i have a SM58 and my voice sounds horrible. Another situation is that im only 15 and me and my friend aint got the money to buy a new soundcard or anything more just the money for the mic for now. Do you think the preamp on the mixer is good enough for now? What about the soundcard? I dont know what kind it is but its probably the worst ever. Thanks for your time and please privide me some feedback. I need it badly.

It is what it is, man. If that's all you got, ya gotta work it! I've actually gotten decent vocals from a 58, it is a standard workhorse mic. Do you have any effects units at all? Reverb, delay, compression?

Yea i use some programs like acid, CEP2 but i dont know how to use some of them effects.

Now would be a good time to learn! Try some compression and some delay or reverb. Also, try doubling your vocals! Mess around til you get a sound you like...

Give it up while you still have the chance.

First thing it's a 58 and a crappy sound card.

Before long, you'll own an NTK and a Lynx card, and you'll be lusting after a Soundeluxe . . . then you'll be on to Radar, a Vintage Neumann, and a racked API module. Then you'll have to have 48 tracks to 2" tape, an Elam, and . . . well, you get it.

Best to quit while you're ahead. Do you play any instruments or have any other hobbies? Ever think of stamp collecting, son?

No actually im not going to quit....i rap and im going to continue to rap for as long as i live...whoever gives up on something like that is weak in my eyes...so dont say that shit to me.

no use buying any more equipment until you get something that can actually capture the sound of it. Save up for a decent sound card first. Then get your B3 or other condenser mic. Then get a decent mic preamp. By then you'll get a fairly good recorded sound. And then, RAP for the rest of your life! :D

Eh, I disagree. The mic is the first thing on the sound chain, and one of the most important. I think a better mic will definaly help. I say go for the B3.

yep that new mic will send a much better signal to the sound card. But then the sorry sound card will just convert it to a sorry recording.

I have an audiophile 24/96 and was using the same mixing board I think with a sm57. I hated it. I picked up a SP B1 and it made a world of difference. I don't know where the weakest link is, or if it's just due to my singing tecnique, but I get way better results with the B1 than I did with the 57. Someone told me that condensors aren't as fussy about pres, makes sense.

Your biggest audible upgrade would be a better mic. Definately.

The chain will not be stronger than it`s weakest link.........

What is your budget?

These guys are right! If you want a decent sound get a decent mic. If you want to record decent sound then get a decent sound card.

There are lots of good sound cards out there. Search the net for 24-bit sound cards. Don't settle for a 16-bit sound card (although with the right equipment you can sometimes get away with one).

Since you're just starting out, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 is a 24-bit (entry level) sound card that costs about $129.

It all depends on how much you've got to spend.

With an Audiophile costing just $20,- more, I wouldn't doubt where to save my money for. Forget the Audigy.

Give it up ! ! ! Before long, you'll be spending every waking hour in the studio . . . you'll be flat broke . . . your girlfriend will leave you (because you can't afford to buy her anything) . . .
