vocals

I have a sure sm58 and a Fostex dmt8vl. I am having a tough time gettin my vocals to sit well. I am using a pod as a preamp and have a nano compressor. How can I improve the recording my vocal.

Get a good preamp...I like alot of people here have an ART MP.

I have difficulty getting vocals right myself bu from what I gather a lot of it is to do with EQ.

Usually the sounds that sound best in a mix don't always sound right on their own and vice versa.
