Metal dude
I have a 7 X 11 room where i have my drum kit in, i also record guitar amps and vocals. I was setting up vocals , and noticed this little ring after a word or two or even a hand clap. I think its the drum skins ringing, so i covered the drums with a sheet. But i can still hear a little ring.( I can hear it but my girlfriend gust about can hear it) Is this going to produe any signals that could interfere with my vocals?? What about the room being so small, could the noise be bouncing off the walls?? (i have carpet on 80% off the walls in the room and a mattres against the wall) the ceiling is about 8 ft. I am singing behind a pop screen 3.5 inches from the mic. Should i set up with my back to the drums?? Space is tight in the room and i cant take the kit out.

Get a thick blanket or 2 and cover the drums. Take the cymbals down when doing vocals or guitar. Or try covering them with another blanket. A sheet isnt going to do anything. Also one mattress against the wall is not enough to deal with reflections and standing waves especially in such a small room. Get some foam and put a few pieces on each wall. Experiment with the placement until you get the right amount of damping.

Maybe basic, but did you turn the snare off?

Pete

Yes, the snare is off and on the floor with a towel on the skin, i got a towel on the rack toms, and a flannel sheet over the cymbols and the intire kit.
Whould i be better off doin vocals in a 3x4 ft closet?
Or is a bigger room needed for vocals?
Maybee the bottom tom skins are ringing....?

Hmmm, ceiling not good. Maybe after getting the drums quiet you might consider building a small 'vocal booth'. From a hardware store get some of those spring hand clamps (they often come in sets) and make a triangular shaped 'booth' out of a heavy blanket or comforter against a wall.

Yes, it could easily be the bottom skins. Or anything else on the drums set, for that matter. Try tapping each drum and stand with your head down low and see if you can locate the sound.

If it isn't the drums, maybe try the closet. A room that small would be easier to deaden, anyway..
