vocals and hooks

I have learned to record the hook 3 times and pan 2 of the tracks left and right at about 50 percent. The main vocal (verses), I learned to just record once, then do double, and ablids. When I do the vocal just one time it sounds weak in the mix. Any Suggestions.

adding some delay can thicken it up a bit, but I like double-track method the best. My voice is so thin I frequently track it up to 4 times to get it where I can stand it

It all depends on the style of music you're talking about and feeling of the vocals. My advice: Do what sounds good.
