Yo Driven by the Sun:
EQ? Well, this is a sticky subject with many people. But, what I suggest is that you don't mess with EQ until you mix down your recording. There isn't much that EQ can do with a bad singer. With a good singer, you can tweak a bit here and there to get an effect. But, the question is, what effect are you after? A little dip in mid EQ? A little gain in HI EQ? A little boost of BASS EQ?
Each one in the EQ range, without getting technical into frequencies which I don't really know much about, has a purpose. That's why you do mix downs listening to your Yorkville YSM-1 speakers and then decide how much you will boost this or that or what?
EQ has a role in doing special effects and those are in the ears of the engineer doing the mixing and the talent paying for the session.
