hey, i am new here.

i am using soundforge 4.0 and am just starting to some vocal recordings. But am wondering if anybody know of anygood techniques to use once the sound has been recorded. I am getting into a mix of classical, pop, and indian music. So, i wanna keep the voice as is but do a little touching up to add some nice reverb, and make it sound intresting. I am giving you a link to a file, this is the type of effect i want from my singers voice. This file requires a *.ram player.

if that link doesn't work then go to the following site and click "direct play" for the 2nd last song at the bottom of the page.

basically. just record the vocal. slap a compressor on there at a 3:1 er 2:1 ratio (whatever sounds best). set the threshold to what sounds best. slap a reverb effect on there to whatever sounds best. i dont recommend trying to get the same sound as that person did on the song, because its almost impossible to be exact. you would have to have the exact same equipment and same settings as that person did. my advice is just do that and do whatever sounds best.

maybe it's my room, but I've noticed that I have to do eq to get the vocal rounded off. Mostly it is to cut some of the lows, around 250 , and many people, including the singer in the link you gave , usually shelf about 10-12 k

I also think that lady had a bit of a flange effect on her voice
