this post definitely doesnt belong here but anywho, here goes.....

this is definitely my worst recording ever, and anyone who ever heard my posts know how bad that is:D

recorded on my vhs camcoder and transferred into a pc....somehow or another theres distortion all over it so be prepeared.....the singer (my future step-niece) didnt know i was taping because we were doing karaoke for Christmas......you can hear us talking and drinking in the background so ignore all that.....I had no idea Id be posting this so please forgive the quality, or lack thereof......

so heres the question.....Im going to send some demos out of some country-ish songs Ive written and Ive always been told to hire a pro singer when sending out demos but Im a big cheapskate.....do you think she could pass?.....

she doesnt know Ive posted this so dont tell her;) :p

well damn, my songwriting is borderline so that would be a good match:D

thanks for listening :)

hey im tryin to listen but it keeps goddamed rebuffering about every 6 seconds ill try again later...

sorry

She has a good voice. She's on pitch and thats a big PLUS.If her vocal was doubled, tripled or even quadrupled like the pros do on their albums she would sound just like a pro.:D

it must be my computer cause i have tried this 3 times and it rebuffers constantly when i try to play this file??

Some good coaching might be the thing she need, keep her hydrated and take a Valium and give her as many takes as she needs.I give it...Green Light

With a bit of vocal coaching and some autotune.... maybe.

I'd hire the pro. But that's just me.

Quite frankly, though, it's up to whether or not you think the songwriting demands it. If it's pro quality songwriting... then you're wasting your time using an amatuer. If it's amatuer quality songwriting, then you're wasting your money using a pro.

She could do it. If she's willing to spend some time, she's got the raw chops, and you can get good takes out of her. Christ, it's a Karaoke machine.

:D

with some work, I definitely think she can do it.. it sounds like she hits the higher notes easily..

although WATYF brings up some points..

maybe ill ask her to come in and do a few takes and let her know Im recording this time.....I may even use a mic and preamp this time.......:D

thanks for the replies.....anyone else?.....

yes!!!!!!!!!!

hell yeah gidge!!! i would give her a shot with your "real" equiptment, you can tell she has talent just from this vhs recording of a karaoke machine!!!!!! i would love to hear her recorded with a mic and pre!!!!!:D she has some pipe's!!

couldn't hurt, do yo thang!!!:)

peace

hey rick, thanks.....that avatar is pretty offensive (I like it:D ).......

yeah i think she has a great voice but then again i think Bon Jovi is a great band, so i needed more opinions.....this recording doesnt touch the way it sounded in the room....i was almost floored because it was the first time i heard her sing......Im sure she'll only get better with more practice (she'slike 16 or 17).......

thanks for taking the time to listen.....

Hey man,

Behind all the clatter and rumble is a gal who sings from her heart..........

Catch that on good gear and teach her mic position and control..

Don't forget the Pop filter and tell her to lean back a little when she belts.......

Go for it man,
Joe

LOLOLOL :D :D

Yes.. and that's why we're here....

:D :p

No really.. like I said.. she sounded decent.. but she still has that "amateur" vocal strength and pitch. I'm sure in a few years, if she gets the right training, she could have a real strong voice... but it's up to you whether or not you wanna deal with her amateurisms right now. But like I said,.. if the songs aren't crying out for a pro vocalist, then don't worry aboot it.

ya know...after putting up Christmas decorations and all the like...I was thinking about what I responded to you. I say, "do it"... borderline, sshmorderline...

if she is giving it the best she can, you are doing the best, who cares what I think? I've recorded some really "lousy" people, and think I got some pretty good results. If you are looking for the next diva, then you might suggest lessons, look further, whatever... but THAT is not your stated goal. If she sings with emotion and feeling, your songs strays away from sucksville, that's all anyone could ask, and it will show. I'm positive on that.

happy new years
(I was grumpy before.....go check out my last thread...ya know??)

if you think you're grumpy now... just wait and see what I offered to Erland in his "imagine" thread... :p

I thought your first post was pretty honest and nowhere near grumpy......honesty is always appreciated......:)

nope, not looking for a diva....just a cheap singer.......she doesnt even know i want her to sing for me yet.....but ill probably give her a CD this week and see what she thinks.......

its really quiet...and clipping..but it sounds like she can hit the notes...and i like the "runnign commentary" in the back ground..hehehe......wow...hell ya she can hit the notes in this song anyway...GO WITH IT!.....hell britney spears cant sing to save her life and look at her??....is she cute?..thats really all that matters...lol
