Basically I've been making computer-based music for a little over 2 years, and just recently got into micing things (usually just for ambience or noise related projects) and picked up some cheap condenser and dynamic mics. I've attracted the attention of some vocalists who want to get me to record them, but I have no idea where to set up a cheap ass vocal booth (especially when I don't have a really small space like a closet going on in my studio). Anybody have a really cheap way of going about this? My brother at one point used a futon, standing up on it's side, surrounded by thick heavy blankets to dampen the sound... is this an ideal vocal-recording environment?
