I am wanting to use a few guitar effects pedals live. i know i could just plug an xlr>trs cable straight into the effects chain but it wouldnt give me good signal quality (or would it?).

would i notice an increase in quality if i were to go xlr into an "ebtech line level shifter" through my effects chain then through a DI box, then into the mixing desk?

thanks

I would say you are probably better of with a dedicated vocal effects processor.

The Boss VE-20 is ideal for this type of application, my singer uses one. They're very affordable and better suited to what you wanna do! :)

Cheers, Muzza.

The XLR -TRS is probably the cheapest. I would use that first then see if you get good results. If not try option 2. And yes if you watch the gains on the pedals you will get okay results (not as good as a dedicated voice processor but decent).

thanks guys, i guess i will just have to experiment. if anyone has had any experience with this please let me know.
cheers

I also recommend the Boss. I've used one, and it is a fantastic value.

i have experimented with the xlr>trs cable into the pedals with okay results. i am still thinking about buying the line level shifter. before i do has anyone got one? would anyone be able to test it and see if it makes a difference?
thanks
