hey i'm looking to get some kind of vocal effects processor for live performances..something that can give the effect of double tracked vocals and reverb...i was looking at the digitech vocal 300 processor...can anyone give me reviews on this product or possibly recommend something else..i'm looking to spend $200-$300....also can i connect the digitech vocal 300 to the send and return on my mic preamp? also how is it powered?
thanks in advance

If $300 is as far as your buget can reach, the Digitech unit would probably be a good choice. It has an XLR mic input and output so you wouldn't need to bring your mic preamp to the gig. As long as you set it up well out of reach of rabid fans and don't have too heavy of a foot on the pedals it will probably last a good long time...

Perry Farrell used an SPX-90II to pitch shift his Jane's Addiction vocals, which was just a general-duty studio multi effect. This is made specifically to do the job - live vocal processing - and will probably be quieter and certainly easier to operate.

I'm in the same boat, I've been using an spx90 live for over 10yrs and I couldn't replace it. Now I'm saving for the TC electronics M300, here it's only $265 cdn. They make great sounding gear, it has xlr's, midi, and knobs to tweak your sound instead of scrolling menus. This price is so sweet for the quality I'm thinkin of picking up two, one for live and one for my studio rig. TC makes great gear at a higher price point but the effects are so indepth theres no time to tweak on the fly when onstage. The M300 gives you the best of both quality and funtion and oh yeah price. :D
