hullo! i'm trying to match the vocal effect done on this clip. what is it? a reverse gate or something? does anyone know how to do it? thanks!! here's the LINK

might be a bit of both.

to do this, first reverse the vocal. apply reverb then delay to taste. then reverse again. viola.

longer reverb decay times sound best.

ok. do you hear a synth patch in the background too, playing the melody? or is it just me?

booya. xistenz hit it on the head. it's a little ditty i like to call "preverb" (ya, it took me a LONG time to come up with that name).

select the first word that you want the effect to appear before. let's say you're singing "the quick brown fox". well then select the word "the", as well as 3 or 4 secs before it. reverse this, apply reverb/delay with a long decay time. now reverse the whole lot again ---> the words play forwards but the reverb backwards!

cool thanks a lot, friends. btw, did u notice the synth patch i mentioned?

i don't notice a synth sound, following the vox you mean? sounds like it might be a doubled track too. putting a dry take over the fx would help to give it some clarity as reverse fx tend to muddy things up a bit because of how much you tend to put on.
