Im looking for a program(s), and help on how to just make thoes vocals sounds nice, I dont mean how to make a bad singer sound good (not saying a a awesome singer, quite bad. haha ANYWAYS) but just to give it that professional crisp, mixes with the music and not just lay on the music, maybe change pitch, and just make it sound good. Am I speaking jibberish? haha

When I mix my vocals in, it sounds like I just slaped it on and took me 5secs, and it does! haha it doesnt have that nice-ness.

I did do a seach through out the threads, and the name "Melodyne" popped up several times. Any good?

Also I read in one thread that to get the good vocals. You need to record like 4 times then edit thoes 4 to make "the perfect take" then do that 2 or 3 more times then mix the 3 vocals together. I dont know if I got that right cuz they used alot of fancy words I didnt know. haha

Man Im making good use of this "noob" zone. haha

Thanks everyone for baring with me,
Taka

What kinds of processing are you adding?

And cutting up multiple performances can help if you are looking for a 100% perfect melding of performances... but to be honest, I only record the vocal line down to the verse or chorus, and use those.

As for getting that "sheen", etc. - that's more the mic and preamp verses the set of plugins they use in "real" studios. Some light compression is all it takes for me (I'm not bragging, I'm just saying its the case :p)

So, I would look at 1) the performer's capabilities, 2) the equipment, and then 3) the processing.

Ok new here and when I was searching other threads the word "Processing" came up alot. So what does that mean? haha is prscessing like effects?

Also whats "vocal line"? and "Compression"? or how do you compress vocals?

Well im not bragging or anything but

1. Well im not bad at singing (first 10 years of my life my parents wanted me to be a singer, sending me to private classes. I hated it!) haha

2. I have a CAD large diaphragm condenser mic, ZOOM MRS-4 recorder, Yamaha MG10/2 mixer.

3. whats processing? haha

[edit] Well I just got a few programs that I hope will help me. I have Auto Tune, Melodyne, Vocal Writer 2.0 I just dont know how to use them. hahahaha

hang comforters around you or something when you record. Can't fix a bad room in the mix.

waves doubler is nice. It's a multie pitch shift program. You only shift the slightest amount each direction to thicken some vocals.

A decent stereo delay (waves multi-tap) is nice to have around.

A nice verb (waves r verb) is great to have around TO USE IN MODERATION:D

That a a nice compressor is a must.

There is a musicians tool kit or something like that from waves for $150 that would set you up pretty good. It's a steel at $150. Have to buy a usb key thoug.

Must run.
