I just bought the 2496 and when i try to record vocals I get a short delay. The way everything is connected now is:
soundcard out to monitors (powered)
mixer tape out to soundcard in. I have a bheringer mx802A mixer.
I want to hear the music and track vocal without hearing the delay.

plz help

moskus, so I changed the latency to 336 on my 2496. I also ran a rca from my sc out to the in on my mixer. Will I be able to record, hear vocals and the music without having a feedback loop and without having the vocals and the music recorded on the same track?

any info would help
thanks

I'm sorry for not adding that on to the last reply. But, I disabled the input monitoring and now the delay is gone. Now I can't hear myself while recording vocals.

Here's what I do. Mixer subs(or mains if ya don't have it) out to sound card in.
Line out from computer to card in. Set monitor mix on card screen and appropriate program set up(audio settings input and output etc)Make sure the volume is ALL THE WAY UP on the M Audio monitor mix screen. Arm fro recording and testing one... two.... three. should work. Good luck

That's what I do. Input Monitoring is a godsend because you can hear the effects applied to the track you're recording.

If you don't want Input Monitoring, the manual to your soundcard should tell you how you manage "zero latency" monitoring. :)

I figured it out around 1p.m. when I was getting ready to track some vocals. On the delta control panel patchbay/routers, I didn't select mon./mixer. Thanks for all the help.
