in my basement (pics at www.shackrockrecordings.com/recording.shtml ), basically it is all open sounding..and i did what i can with carpet and blankets.

however, i have a SMALL bathroom with just a toilet...

if i cover all the (old) wood walls with blankets/carpet, and the floor, and put a blanket over the toilet, and somehow put some kind of cieling in there.....

it would be better to record amps and vox in that booth right? i mean, right now i'm just recording in the the main room where the drums are for amps and vox..(check the pix, you'll see).

thanks to any replies.

anyone!? haha.

i just need some tips before i go on a long search for more thick blankets...

Shack,

Carpet and blankets will get out the highs but not the low and mids which can end up making your sources sound muddy. That is to say that I'm not sure recording in your bathroom treated to absorbe highs will make things better than if you treat your live room.

To improve you need to install some absorbers targeting the mid and low frequencies. You can use designs at John Sayer's site. Also, Ethan Winer has some you can build yourself or purchase from him. Check the link:

His traps are based on using Owens Corning 703 fiberglass panels. These are somewhat expensive and difficult to find. I'd think mineral wool would work equally well and be more affordable.

Hope it helps.

Alex
