I've got a section in my bedroom with dimensions of 6'1 x 4'11. I would like to turn that area into a vocal booth.

The space I'm referring to is the bottom left of that picture. I'd like decent isolation. To be able to play the saxophone or other instruments and not be able to hear outside would be a great thing. I just don't know if it's possible. I don't want to do any reconstructing or tearing out any walls. I'd like to build a seperate structure. I was looking at the PVC/blanket idea, but that got me thinking about using other items that might do the job better. Given the space are there any recommendations?

Do you own, rent, or live with your parents? If you really had to use that space for vocals, I'd go to home depot and purchase 3/4 inch MDF to use for the walls. They will even cut the material to the size that you need. Get a book that covers building walls and make sure that you use MDF on both sides of your walls. As far as a door, hmm, I don't know what to tell you for 500 bucks. Anyone?

The MDF will cripple any sounds that are produced from within. I'm not sure how good it will sound but you only have 500.

I rent an apartment from my parents. So, that's why I am needing something that isn't too permanent anyway.
