Anyone who uses the VM3100/Pro who feels like talking about it? I'm using it with a VS880EX through the optical output for extra inputs and FX,and would be interested in dialoging with other users.Cheers!

I am using a VM/3100 pro with cw9. Running digital i/o (both optical and s/pdif) as well as audio i/o.

Have you hooked the 3100 up to MIDI yet? I think that's the next thing I'm gonna do,so I can automate the scene changes and use cc7 to change fader levels. What kinds of instruments do you have plugged in to it?MY inputs from channel 1 to 12 are: 1&2 Digitech Studio Vocalist,3&4 Korg N1R Module,5&6 Roland JV-1010 Module,7&8 Alesis Quadrasynth,9&10 Quadrasynth Aux. outputs,11&12 will be used for digital when I get a CD burner.I also have a small Mackie board.Cheers!

Haven't done midi yet. Called up a tekkie @ Roland and it turns out I need a midi port. I have lightened the input load on the 3100 with a dbx 386. I got wires goin all over the place.

Hey dudes, I'm in the market for a digital mixer and since we r already on the topic of vm3100pro I was hopeing u wouuld share some feadback on it, the only real down side I c is the basic eq (just hi/mid/lo, right?) but how is the overall sound? r the compressor workable? does the eq sound good? I'm also a bit confused when it comes to the FX; can u have 4 diffrent fx alogorithms running at the same time or is it just 4bus into 2fx?
and do the they offer any distrortion or similar no-conventional algorithms like the sp808?

Howdy! Why,just today I was doing some comparative recording with the VM3100 and my little Mackie 1402 VLZ that I've had for a few years, running the same tracks through each and recording the results.Gotta say that although the Mackie sounds good, the Roland has the edge on clarity and crispness of sound. To answer your questions, even though there are only 3 physical EQ knobs on the mixer,s face, the actual EQ is totally sweepable(you have to use the Data wheel in conjunction with the Knobs.Yes,IMO the EQ sounds quite good, and it is precise.)There are 2 FX engines in the PRO,1 in the cheaper model.Dunno about the cheaper, but in the pro you can use both FX on the same sound,or many sounds routed to the same FX,etc. Many of the patches have a series of different FX as part of the same patch, and you can turn one or more of these off w/o affecting the others.E.G. "guitar multi" has compression,EQ,delay, distortion, chorus.IMO the FX are the same level of quality as the VS recorders, which is pretty damn good.Plus, there's an EQ Library and a Compressor Library with both preset and user patches,so if you like a certain EQ on sy Sax,the next time you do some Sax tracks, you can call up the EQ even if it's another song you're recording. Both RECORDING MAGAZINE and ELECTRONIC MUSICIAN reviewed this mixer in the last few months,if you want more feedback, check these out.Cheers!

thank u so much for your reply Vray, I'm pretty much sold, I'll cheek out the mags but u've pretty much cleared it all up, I can c the light now !p
