VM-200 Studioware panel

I know i've asked this before, but the only way I've gotten the VM-200 StudioWare panel to work (the one that was posted here) is to change the setting from "automate in track" to "direct to port"

To use the "automate in track" feature, and to hve the VM-200's faders move accordingly, do I need to set up and record automation in SONAR for each track that i am trying to control?
