This is my virgin post on this site . It was recomended to me . I was told this is probobly the best forum for information .
Anyway . What I am looking for is a good soundcard . I am kind of on a budget but will stretch if it is really worth it . My plan is to set up a home studio that will be able to record large groups of musicians like military bands and the like . I will also be recording various different types of music . Im kind of new at this so if anything I have said above seems stupid to you forgive me for my ignorance .
My budget for the soundcard would be 5 or 600 euro . I was told to stay away from Audigy two even though it was recommended to me . Has anyone got any opinions ?????
Jesus it feels good to have lost my virginity here .

was it everything you had hoped?

you'll be hearing a lot of reccomendations around here for cards by M-Audio .... www.m-audio.com

It was good but I feel like a bit of a slut now but I also think that is good .
Hmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!! Slut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots will depend on how you plan to record those bands.

If you use a stereo recording technique with mics, you have plenty of choise. If on the other hand you want to mike every section in the band you still have plenty of choise but will need more budget.

So: How many inputs will you need? Do you need mic preamps?

Take a look at stuff from: maudio, event audio, staudio, aardvark, rme, marian, motu....

I will be micing every section . I havent decided on getting a didital recording unit with maybe 32 inputs and transfering to pc . Im not really to sure about it just yet . Anyone any ideas ??????
If I go down that road what is my best bet for a sound card ???
I am totally new at this so I am not quite sure what I want yet .
