Does anyone know of a software that can turn LP's into digital and also take out the "pops and snaps".

That's the best terminology I can come up with.

Thanks for any help.

For pops and snaps you can use VINYL RESTORATION.

You can use Sound Forge to convert your vinyl into a WAV. files, then you can "BURN" the into a CD.

nips

Spin Doctor (part of Roxio/Adaptec's EZ CD Creator Deluxe) will do both of these things. The degree of success will depend somewhat on the condition of the albums of course.

Ive tried the thing on EZ CD creator and it doesn't seem to work at all, it gets rid of a little bit of noise, but all the major pops stay.

Thanks for the help y'all. I already knew how to record to digital but I had heard someone mention that you could actually remove the pops from the recording. If software doesn't exist that will do a perfect job of that, then I am not surprised. But if it helps at all, that's ok.

And I admit that I'm a dreamer.

well keep trying, im shure there is some out there that will clean it up a little but I dont think it is possible to do a complete job. Of course I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem likely.

there is

there is software that does this, in soundforge there is a plug in you can get for this purpose, if i remember rightly it is called pop and crackle remover and there is a noise and hiss remover. these work well and there is also a good noise reduction that will capture the type of noise the vinyl gives off (by recording in a silent bit of the groove) and then will remove this from the rest of the wav file, it works very well, u just have to be careful not to overuse or it starts to sound a bit like a vocoder but used carefully it has excellent results .other programs that do this i think are called audio laundry and dac but forge is the best
it might be an easier and simpler option tho to find mp3s of the tracks and burn them, try audiogalaxy.com its the new napster!
let me know if u have probs finding the plug in
good luck
