Hello:

I need some help.

1. Which is the best cartridge type to use with my Technics SLD2 turntable for high quality reproduction into the ML9600 (magnetic or ceramic)????

2. What is a good, reasonably priced pre-amp to be used in this process?

Thank You for your assistance.

An Ortofon cartridge, and if you have a turntable connection on good-quality stereo receiver or preamp, you can use that.

I agree with Bruce. purchase the Ortofons.

peace...
spin

p.s. Purchase the Ortofon cartridge that mounts onto your Technics headshell. Because, the "one-piece" Ortofons (that look like a skinny finger) have the tendency to "push in" the 4 round connection points inside the arm of the turntable. If that occurs, you'll have to buy another arm for the turntable (that would cost about $125.00 - $200.00).

They should have them here...

Get their 800# to speak with a rep. Let them know that you want the Ortofons that attach to your turntables headshell, not your turntables arm.

It should hit you for about $69.00 to $89.00

Thank you Bruce and Spinsterwon !

Is the Ortofon cartridge a ceramic or magnetic? (I am trying to learn) !

I am setting up from scratch and still need to know a good quality preamp, assuming that one is needed between the Technics SLD2 turntable and the 9600.

Thanks again,

Michael
