Well' I bit the bullet and bought an old ,60's, Neumann U87. The coolest thing about it is it came from the Hit Factory! I'll get it Thursday. It will be interesting to see if it's worth the hype Neumann 's known for.

If you are not blown away (with a good pre...not the wackie-berry-art junk) then you will need to reconsider your current line of work! Seriously...enjoy it..

with envy,
Ray

It should sound good. I'll have to put it through its paces to really see. I have nice pre's. AM16, Altec 9475s, V72a's. Urei 1108 ( converted from line amp) Focusrite. It will be to A/B them!! :)

Unfortunately, electrical components don't get better with age and neither do the diaphrams from long-term commercial use. Hope you got a good one.

Regards.

i hope you have good vybes with your u87.its from the hit factory, even if it dont come out like you expected(which i doubt) you can still probably get a hefty starting price if you sell it.
just my 2 cents.

It has been upgraded.I think like a Korby upgrade I assume. They (The Hit Factory) had some guy, some tech that kept things going and up to par if not more. They tell me it sounds fantastic, like an old tube mic, (which of course it isn't) but I got the idea.

tHATS THE KILLER! $1650.00. That is a good deal for a 60's U87 even from Joe Blow. There is one more 60's U87 they have I'm thinking about!!

Yeah, that's an amazing deal. Congrats!!
