Village Idiot

The Love Butler
I just purchased the set of my dreams!

A 1962 Slingerland Black Pearl 4-Piece Kit.
It is in absolute mint condition.
And I almost wet myself when I saw it sitting there, seductively whispering for me to take it home...

I will post a pic of it soon. Man, is it sexy.

Any other drummer out there with vintage kits?

you lucky bastard.......

i got 2 veteran kits, early seventies pearl and a star (tama), also got a vintage ludwig 26" bass drum with the original heads, made from real dead animal hide, that one whispered to me....

VILLAGE IDIOT, THE DRUM WHISPERER :D

My friend's dad has a vintage Ludwig kit...very snazzy, also some vintage Zildjian cymbals that sound just beautiful...very droolworthy.

Love them old drums....

I got a way cool, not quite mint but in great shape 1969/70 skyblue pearl Ludwig almost a year ago just for recording. I mounted the high tom on it's own stand instead of the handlebar thing.....I love it.
I got the 3 drums for 400 bucks and bought a new gretsch snare that compliments it well. I like DWs and all but my favorite drum sounds seem to come off those old Ludwigs so that's what i got. Warm Maple, BABY!!!!

I have a set of Sonors from 1963 (I think). They're not the greatest drums in the world--they're pretty entry-level. But they sound OK, and they used to be the house drums at an old strip bar (my parents found them in the basement of a house they used to rent).

:D i'd be checkin for love stains, i hope you changed the heads :D

I doubt the drummer got the chance to do much of that on the job.

"What are we paying you for?"

what were they paying him with? i'm sure he got employee discounts

Early 60's green sparkel ludwig four piece.

Oooh...Sparkely...

I got lucky when I found a vintage set of 1960 slingerland's being tossed out. Apparently the father didn't want his son's kit anymore and the son took too long to come get it. Well, I got it now. Nothing beats vintage for jazz tones. the bass drum is really toner-ific.

peace out,
mike

I've got a 5 pc. set of 70's Slingerlands - white, faded to that vintage cream. Not sure of the exact year. Sound pretty good - real good for $400.

You da man, VI!

I salivated over a used Slingerland set at World Music when I was 13. I also lusted for a Rogers twin bass set at the same time. What did I get?
A nasty ass set of Stewarts for christmas!
What did my brother get (after crying, and saying he wouldn't pass freshman year)?
LUDWIG multi-colored acrylic! BASTARD! :D
