this is just an early snippet from the score for an xbox360 videogame. the drumpart at the end is still missing the entire arrangement, but the first part is done so far.

it sounds fine here, but my speakers do trick me from time to time (or my ears...dunno)

any advice would be helpful

i cant find any faullt with this personally i think it is fantastic!

Needs more SID chip. Kids these days with their video games containing realistic representations of real instruments! :D

Sounds pretty good. Very Haloey (which is I assume the goal.) Depending on how it's handled in the game, it would be a good contribution.

Obviously, if they just loop this clip through the entire level (or worse the entire game) it'll get pretty old after a few repititions. (This would be a good spot for this game to deviate from Halo's template!)

Steve is the resident expert on all things games and computer geekwonk.

I can only comment on the one flaw I can hear: the low freqs sound really big and impactful when I boost 31Hz +6, and 62 Hz +4. But that's camparing it with average filmscore sounds. Listening on KRK Rockits, in a bottom-rich environment.

A really nice piece of composition, arranging, sound-crafting and mixing. Nice samples and ambience!!

Are you doing the arrangement for the score? Or did you just make out of pure fun?

And what game might I ask? Sounds Prince of Persia-ish. Sounds pretty cool

Yup sounded great to me, just read an article on video gaming music...interesting how they can get so much time out of small pieces of music just by bringing in different parts of the track to build up the tension and stop the boredom of just a looped piece of music like the old days :)

Was that a vocal word or two at 1:09?

Anyway, I'd try what Jeff suggested. Might as well see if it improves the lows a bit.

Very solid and polished. Great typical video game music.

Unfortunately for me, most video game and film scores are lost on me because of how they all seem to sound to same, or have no real emotional impact (to me at least).

sorry for the late reply, but i was busy with the rest of the score.....thanks for the comments. this will really help me to improve myself

ok...i made a few new masters. which one is better? i am really not sure...the first link seems to have more punch, while the second one is a bit more shiny. the third one is without limiter and exciter

I like #1

#3 is 'responsible'.

I like #1....good boom in bottom....the high end is well balanced with in the spectrum. And, likely, this'll be played on a lot of cheep speakers: the shine on #2 might be a harsh listen on 4" cones....

Great work. What are you samples? Stand-alone computer? What was the approximate cost of setting up your orchestra? And you use Waves DAW, right?

Sounded pretty good. I know squat about this genre. My only complaint is that percussive thing on the left. Like a shaker or something. It's clicky and distracting.

Sounds great, and has a nice buildup. So you'll be adding more stuff to the end, right? That should be awesome. :D
I agree with tripleM about the thingy on the left, though. It stands out and can be distracting indeed. There's a clank somewhere (I'd say around three fifths) that seems sort of out of place. But you'll nail it, I think.

i have used the yamaha motif XS, the kurzweil PC361 and the east west library(storm drum 2 & voices of passion) for the song...recorded with cubase AI4

you guys are right with the left percussion....should get rid of it

I like #1 the best, too. I think the 'shine' on #2 is unneeded. It's plenty shiny to me already. :) Very cool stuff.
