I imported an mpeg video of someone speaking. The video came up and the audio came on its own track. All looked good so I can put music to it. But when playing the voice and the video are'nt in synch. When I play in media player they are perfect. Never saw many posts about video. Any ideas why they are falling out in Sonar? Thanks

I have only done a little with video. Mainly video of live bands I record. I use the existing audio to line up the mixed audio to the video. I have never had the orig. audio be out of snyc. Mayby load it all again? Thats all I can think of unless you by accident slid the audio track.

MPEG video is a distribution only format and is not suited for editing unless your video editor comes with a MPEG decoder capable of compensating for the temporal compression the MPEG codec uses.

Sonar's video editing capabilities are limited to video that uses CODECs which do not make use of temporal compresion (IBP frames). It wil work best with AVI files which use DV or Cinepak CODECs

brzilian, can I buy an mpeg decoder that will make it work with Sonar?

Or if I have them resend video as .avi, it will automatically work with Sonar, or do I still need to get DV or Cinipak CODECS? Thanks

You are better off having them send the video as a DV AVI file. You will not require the CODECs as XP natively supports them.
