Video monitor buzz

After sticking my computer in the closet to quiet all the fan noise, I discovered that my dual video monitors buzz. Since I do my tracking in the same room, this creates a problem. Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas for quieting them?

Thanks.

Have you tried seperating them a little? Sounds like you're getting interference. You could try changing the refresh rates.

Might need a power line conditioner. That's why I decided to just track in a different room. Almost everything in the studio makes a little bit of noise not just the computer.

Ok, anything else I can try?

I tried separating the monitors, and even turned them off one at a time to see if they buzzed by themselves, but found they both buzz even with the other one turned off.

I changed the refresh rate, and still no change in the buzzing.

I suppose with the heat thing (not to mention being a fire hazard) I can't throw a blanket on top to quiet things down. Also, it wouldn't be practical to put them in the closet with the computer. :)

Any other ideas? (Besides shelling out $500.00 for new monitors, of course!)

Do what I do when I'm recording with single coils: turn 'em off while your tracking. Or you could just run out and get a couple of flat-panel$.

Buying new monitors may unfortunately be the only way out, or just one new one. Every monitor I've had that started buzzing (two, to be exact) eventually went out on me soon after (by soon I mean within a few months). Maybe it's a different problem with yours, but I would start looking for a couple of new ones. I have a refurbished monitor that has lasted four years with no problems. Its a 15" gateway I got for about $100. If you go to the right place you might find a couple for less than $300.
