Well,... I think I've got the system designed, all except for how to make it deal with SMPTE!

I'm doing live multitrack recording, pc based, and will clean up in the mess in post production to feed a finished stereo mix back to the video system. The cameras can feed me SMPTE but I'm not sure what to do with it so that when I'm all done I can sync back to the video.

Anybody out there crazy enough to have tried the same thing? I would sure appreciate being point in the right direction. Thanks

Your best bet (although I'm going back a ways in time) is to make sure that both video and audio has a time code track on it. Drop Frame if possible. Syncing audio to video has never been the easiest thing to do, in fact, it can very time consuming. But, then again all good things come in time.

Good Luck,

Thanks Lavoz

I think I'm ok with the theory, now. (Ive looked in to drop frame, etc etc etc. ) The next nut to crack is to come up with the multitrack soundcard that can pull this off.

I see lots of good stuff offered that can handle all the audio aspects of what I've got to do but am still looking for one that can handle the SMPTE aspect.

Or, ... can I just use one of the input analog tracks to stripe the sync code? I've also found some black boxes that can convert SMPTE to Word Clock (and lots of cards can handle that one) but I can't figure out whether that will handle the requirement or not.

Thanks,
Len
