i've just starting looking into recording on PC. (usually i record on 4 track). have tried cakewalk and n-track but am not getting any input source signal on reord. even on windows volume recording control no signal. have reinstalled programme but zippo having tried both drum machine and guitar. when i did try drum machine could hear sound but no record signal. as for guitar > nothing.
am looking to buy something but in meantime is the vibra 128 useless or is it me.
help me pls !!!!!!!

Don't know what a vibra128 is, I'm assuming some soundcard...

Are you plugging the guitar signal into the Line In? The signal from electric guitar pickups is typically way small in comparison to line level. It needs to be preamped to line level befor it can go into a device that accepts line level signals.

Also, are you sure you checked the Windows mixer properly? The controls shown when you open it up are for playback controls and for hearing what's coming in to the external line in and mic in. The recording levels, which control what gets piped into the recording section of the sound card when you record, is a bit buried and it's not at all clear how to get in there. A good detailed write-up exists at the Cakewalk website at

http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Lessons/WindowsMixer.htm

and the steps have also been detailed here time and time again. Try a search on "Windows mixer."

Good luck!
