Hi,
Trying to get the PCI324 card (MOTU 2408) installed and working. Been at it a little over a month now and I still can't get it to work. The wave driver will not work. I've tried installing on XP pro and 98SE. My mobo is an ASUS CUV4X. Its a VIA chipset and I've read that that may be my problem. My question is: Can I remedy it or do I need to buy another mobo. If so what mobo will work?
thanks folks
scott.

Did you call or contact MOTU by e-mail before you purchased the card?

I would buy a new mobo. Vias will work fine with some cards, not at all with others. it depends on the card.

Very true. I have an old AMD laying around the house with the VIA chipset and had a HELL of a time with sound cards. Went to a P III coppermine and the MOTU lives.

I was in a local music store one day and they had the 2408 on sale second hand. I didn't have time to contact anyone before buying it because it was a 'get it before someone else does' situation. I only paid $600 CAN for it. I guess that's about $400 USD.

I think I'll have to upgrade to an intel based mobo. Probably move to a p4 1.7ghz+. Can anyone suggest a combination that works?
thanks.

Hi Girvan,

I started a thread on Cubase.net called "Your working
Motu 2408 setups"...or something to that nature...people
posted their working setups. Cubase.net has been changed
recently, but probably can be found in the archives under hardware...or soundcards, that might help you.

I have a Celeron 900mhz, running WinME and a Motu
2408MkII that works fine for what I'm using it for (transfering
Adat tracks to the PC for editing.) I'm also going to upgrade
my PC in the near future and will stick with an Intel product.

Some tips.....
Make sure that the Motu is not sharing an irq with another
sound card. Use the latest Motu drivers. Try moving the
PCI card to other slots and follow the installation instructions
to the letter.

Hope that helps!
Mike

get an Intel board with a 845 chipset, and a 1.8A chip from New Egg.

I'd recommend the Intel P4 Motherboard D845EBG2, for $113, and the 1.8A chip, for $152.

Then your system will definitely work.

Great! I'll have so save a few $ but it's great to get some solid 'buy this it works' advice. I plan to get this case:
rackmount case . I presume that mobo will fit. ATX type.
New Egg must ship to canada...i'll check it out.

I'll basically need to outfit a whole new box as I can. I have a few harddrives in waiting and a dual head card in waiting.

Thanks man@work too. I'll search for the post. I will be running cubase SX on this rig. I did already try all the tips you mentioned and still no go.

thanks everyone.
