I've been looking into either upgrading or getting a new computer, and I've heard about potential problems with the VIA chipset.

What equipment/software has problems with the VIA chipset, and is there a workaround to avoid problems with it? It is a very popular chipset.

Make sure you have Via's 4-in-1 drivers... They are pretty good. The drivers fixed a lot of compatibility issues. I have a via chipset on my motherboard I have now and have had no "chipset" problems per se. I think my problems have been with Windows operating sytsems. Go to http://www.prorec.com and check out the Roll Your Own computer. It is built around an Iwill motherboard with a Via chipset on it using an Athlon Thunderbird processor. I am getting ready to try that myself. My main reason is that I want to use a Win2k because of the stability of the OS. If you find out something better please post...
