VF80EX or DP01FX/CD

To start I'd like to say "Great Site"...

My question is....Do I keep the VF80EX w/CD or trade it for the DP01FX/CD

I just rcvd the VF yesterday and have not spent more than 45mins with it. I got it from music123 for $540 (no int. til 2007 )..I orig. wanted the DP01fx but it did not have a CD opt.. Well as per the norm, I surf the site today & Guess what..there it is. The pros & cons IMHO are:

VF80
PRO - I have it plugged in @ the house
- My buddy has the VF160..same setup..help is just 3 houses dwn
- The effects are rumored to be above avg.
- as is the sound quality
- No interest til 2007
- $60 less

CON - Layered menus
- did i mention layered menus?
- 6 trk..7/8 are for Mix
- no USB
- 20G HD

DP01
PRO - Good old fashion Knobs
- Did I metion good old fashioned knobs?
- USB
- 8 trk + master trk
- did I mention the knobs?
- No interest til 2007
- 40G HD

CON - I have to wait for it
- $60 (This is minor..I'm already in the dog house....Hey I
could snd proof in here for bout $50...



Oh WTF I just pushed myself toward th DP01...Dam...Dam..Dam..now I have to ship the VF bk..and wait....Patience is not 1 of my virtues...come to think of it, I really don't have any virtues...

I have til monday to decide..any input will be greatly appreciated...

I just checked out the DP01 online (I wasn't familiar with it) & it looks good. I've had a vf-08 (w/ a 40G drive - how did your newer one come w/ a smaller drive?) and love it.

The VF lacks a USB port, which the DP01 has...

One question to ask about the DP01...while you can make adjustments via knobs, make sure you can save those settings ...you can on the VF.

I feel frustration

I have been workin with my VF80 for sev hours & I find the Manual to be very confusing..I figured out how to rec trks and put in FX despite the directions....Does anyone here have Exp. with the DP01...does the manual make sence?...is the RECDING process easy/hard?..How many btns do yo have to push(ie..SHFT/this & shift/that) to go from start to CD burn? I have been in the Telco biz for 20+ yrs and have come across many a PBX manual that make you earn your pay..The VF man. is prob 1 of the most Bass akwards I've had to deal with. Maybe I shld take my PORTA Studio in & have it Prof. Cleaned..I figure the $550 to $600 can go towards outboard FX & such...anyone out ther willin to throw some advice my way??
