Hi.....I need your help. Does anyone know about editing tracks in the VF80?

I have put down a track and now want to shorten it by taking out a section in the middle. I have set the start and end points but when I erase it leaves a blank track. All other tracks are blank at this stage.
Is it digital scrubbing I have to use? The instructions in the manual were unclear. It tells me how to set it up but not execute the scrub. Also it mentions in the track editing section that if there is information on other tracks it will erase and leave blank. There is nothing on other tracks but I'm going with the assumption that it thinks there is. I am obviously missing a step here but for the last couple of days havent been able to work it out.

I also tried moving part of the track to the end so I can delete it from there but it still left it blank.

What am I doing wrong? Would be very grateful for any input.

If you want to remove a section, you take the following section and paste over the bit you don't want.
Let's say the song has three sections: A B and C, where section B is the bit you don't want. You cut section C and paste it to the start of section B. This overwrites Section B, i.e it is not there anymore.
This operation is called 'move paste' on the VF 160, probably the same on the VF80?
The new song is shorter, and you may find that the end of the original song is still there - just delete it or, when you cut section C, add enough silence at the end to cover the original entirely.
I find it helps to draw a timeline picture!
Once you get a bit of practice with the button pushes it's easy.

Hey Kit,
Scrubbing is what you use to hear the exact point where you want to set an edit point. When you hit the scrub button, select a track, and move the jog wheel back and forth, you'll hear the sound of that track and see a graphic display on the LCD screen. This function mimics the old days when analogue tape could be "scrubbed" back and forth over the tape head to select a precise edit point.

Stay with it, and it'll be second nature.

Last point. When you move a large section of material, watch your display because these moves do not happen instantaneously. Also, when you erase, make sure the red track light is blinking ONLY on the track you want to erase material from. AND, make use of the UNDO button immediately after you make a mistake. If you don't like a result, hit UNDO and you're back where you started just before the last procedure. VERY IMPORTANT FEATURE. You can ONLY UNDO the previous step.

The manual assumes you know what 'scrubbing' is...I sure didn't, until I asked the question on this forum. Using the scrubbing feature, as explained in the previous post, you can precisely locate points in your song and set the "start", "end" and "to" points - the points that track editing operations (e.g., copy, move, erase) use .
