Ok, I have some outboard compressors I use (especially for vocals and drums), but I still have some distortion issues with vocals. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Distortion is not normal for any unit. Does it sound crackly? If so, you're peaking your input levels and should pull them down a bit... Are the red peak lights flashing on a regular basis when you record? The Vf160 should be giving you very clean reporduction of what you put in. If peaking the VF160 isn't the issue then I would suspect the distortion is happening before the signal reaches the recorder.

No, nothing is clipping. I havent tried a different condensor mic yet, maybe Ill give that a shot.
