I am considering a VF-80. It seems to have some great features, but all of the dealers in the Sacramento area seem to be former dealers. Any comments about either Fostex as a viable vendor or the VF-80?
Apparently the VF-80 is just too new. I have not found one single review of the unit anywhere on the internet. Lots of sales promo, but no user comments. Fostex has been around as long as anyone in multitrack, with some real innovative products at good prices. This APPEARS to be another one. Eight track digital, amp modeling, mic modeling, tons of effects, uncompressed 16 bit 44k cd quality, 20 gig HD and cd burner for $795 total. Only other machine that comes close is the Boss br-1180 and there are NO reviews on that either. So......it does it all, but does it do it well. No one knows or isn't saying. I'm buying one, but it's a shot in the dark. Fostex does say it is very similar to the VF-16 which has good reviews, and they have added things above and beyond the 16, so you would think it's a winner. Someday they might even write a manual that's understandable. I know of two other VF-80 owners who haven't used it enough to know yet, and there is a quick start pdf that isn't included in the manual. I'm learning something about it just by looking everywhere and getting small pieces, but so far, zero user comments in any forum.
Well they're built like VF-08 and i like my VF-08...Only complaint i have against them is like what i said in other post.. The effect features screwie...
It makes a good portable..Thats what i use it for...I run the roland 24 workstation for my main.... But when i'm in a rush or need to get to a gig that needs recording..I take the fostex with me..
