VF-08 to Laptop- Pops and Clicks

Hi everyone- wonder if someone could help me troubleshoot...I have connected my VF-08 to my laptop and am mixing down tracks directly to the laptop, using the ST OUT ports (e.g. 1/4 inch converted to RCA converted to 1/8 inch into the Line In on the laptop.) I am using Goldwave to record the song on the laptop. The .wav files that result are of decent quality, but with pops and clicks in them. Anyone know how to get rid of these?

When you press play with all that hooked up can you hear the mix or no?

Yes, and I can record it as well using the Goldwave software program, and then convert to mp3. Everything is great except for the minor blemishes in sound quality.
