Vesta Fire MR-10 troubles!!

I asked this on yahoo answers a couple days ago and didn't get a response, so I figured i'd try my luck here. Copied from my yahoo answers question:

I have a Vesta Fire MR-10B 4 track cassette recorder and I am having a rather peculiar issue. Whenever I try to record from the front two MIC/LINE inputs nothing is recorded on the tape! I get the monitor sound through my headphones, and the PGM needle is responding to sound so I think that everything is loud enough. Also, I can record one track onto another track, and playback is fine so I don't think anything is wrong with tape heads... I found the manual online and following the instructions in there doesn't help. So far the only thing I can think of is that I have some knob turned up/down that I shouldn't have and its messing up the signal somewhere along the line.

Yeah, so if anyone has any advice or can help me at all I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
