I recorded a stereo acoustic guitar track last night. Two mics into mixer, out the inserts to the Delta 1010 ins 5/6. On playback each mic has its own track in Sonar, panned hard right and left in my speakers. I can hear the difference in the tone so I know I'm getting different sinals. Looks good. The mixer channels were panned down the middle, but where I was using the inserts and not the master, I figue I'm getting each mic discretely.
The problem:
I go into Sonar and start to change the panning. The pan window shows movement, but the sound does not move. Not a bit. Hard left on one and hard right on the other. I thought maybe I inadvertantly recorded stereo, but I'm only getting a single wave graphic on each track. I got some relief when I bounced to another track as mono. At this point though, the levels were quite a bit lower.
What the hell did I do?
