Hello all, my band has been jamming in a very small room (~10x12..yes its CRAMPED), and we've recently started recording demos. Our recordings dont sound too bad so far, but I'm guessing with a little room treatment we can make them a lot better. Tracking drums in particular tends to be a problem because first, its hard to get good overhead placement in a room that size, and then with all the reflection going on, they sound a bit 'trashy' for lack of a better term.
The room has a 9 foot ceiling, give or take, one door on one of the smaller walls, some kind of ceramic or tile flooring and ceiling, and VERY cheap wall 'covers' (that crap that looks like wood but is thinner than cardboard). It sounds very live, which obviously works in certain situations, but not all of them.
Are there ways that most people go about treating a room of this small size when its used for jamming and recording? Is it sensible to treat a room with bass absorbers in the corners and all that stuff if you don't mix in that room? I'm a noob, so sorry if these are bootcamp questions, but thanks in advance for any feedback.
