Slowing becoming un-noob.
If I bought a strat pickguard for a fender, would it work on my strat copy?
(it's a Lotus guitar)

I'm just curious lookin' into makin my guitar nicer.

Thanks,
Elliot

Not usually - most companies that make strat copies will have slight variations to sneak under the lawsuit radar. my best guess would be a 90% no.

It might take a bit of doing, but they're certainly the same size. You might have to drill a few holes to match up with the new pickguard, but other than that, I think they're the same thing.

**Note...I don't own a strat (though I do plan on getting one soon), so take this with a shaker of salt**

Yeah, that's what I was pretty much thinking.

Hmm, yeah. Don't think it's worth it.

I really was considering a mirror pickguard, because for some reason I think that'd be cool. But hell, I'll save $20 and just keep the perfectly good one I have.

Thanks guys.

Almost certainly not.

Almost certainly not what? About my "same size" statement?

If I'm wrong, sorry...certainly isn't the first time, and definitely won't be the last.

Different manufacturers guitars make look similar, but they almost always have slightly different measurements. For one thing, a Lotus is going to be getting built with metric measurements, and the packaged strat pickguards are all made to SAE measurements. Hell, the outlines between Mexican and USA Strat pickguards are different. Not a lot, but enough that things don't usually line up. Oh, and the neck pockets are usually just a bit different too. They just aren't compatible.
